Yantrā- yantra, vastu and yantra,
iconography, design, painting
Yantra seems like a magical formation of
lines, numbers, mantras etc. however in tantric philosophy yantrās are the seat
of the ḍevthas. Etymologically, the word
yantra comes from the words yam and tra. Yam means to sustain or hold an energy
or consciousness and tra means to expand the same. So yantra is the seat of the
ḍevthas or Brahmin which keeps expanding to ananta.
In vastu, pada vinyāsa is nothing but
mandala or yantra where energies are expanded to entrances. Even khaṇḍa nyas of
vastu with catuśśāla is merely an expansion of Brahmin in all four directions
where the world becomes brahmāṇḍamaṃḍala (yantra or mandala of brāhmaṇa). In citrakarma (Painting or design), mūrti kalā
(idol design) etc. of vastu, even designed paintings and statues of God will
have deep impact on human consciousness. However, to create such an impact, the
tala measures and a certain procedure (tantric) is required which is a
well-guarded secret and not fit to be shared on a public platform. And even if
someone is aware of the procedure, the invocation of consciousness requires a
great sadhak who knows how to invoke Brahmin in body.
Similarly, a yantra requires certain
procedure to work. Merely writing or drawing a yantra has no value. So most of
those yantrās, painting and statues that you buy from market, or are sold by
people have technically zero value. Even worshipping them will have no value
unless you are sadhak who knows how to transfer consciousness from body to
yantra or design for that matter. The yantrās can be written on gold, silver
& Bhojapatra. Silver or Gold pen or nail like objects are used for writing
the yantra. The machine produced yantra, paintings or sculptures have zero
effect what so ever is been advertised.
Amongst that, the Bhojapatra has a stronger
impact but requires maintenance. This is because Betula bark has special
properties. It is used for bhūta, viṣa, and many disorders and carries superb
antimicrobial properties.
Gold is already one of the purest metal and
that too has its own power. Certain yantra like śrī have greater power when
crystal is used as base. However these have no value if proper method is not
used for writing. This involves deśa (place), kala (time) and pariṣṭhiti
(condition). Moreover, it is not just the diagram that matters as is usually
considered, it is the way that it is written or drawn. For that, even a word
written with consciousness will have deep impact rather than a complex yantra. Yantra
writing requires following:
1. An apt sadhak who has a living mantra as sakti with him. Sadhak can usually write not more than one or two yantra types only.
2. A powerful muhūrta to enhance power.
3. Celibacy, fast and sleeping on floor during the time.
4. Ḍehaśuddhi & Bhutaśuddhi etc.
5. Atma arādhana.
6. Ganpati arādhana and piṭha Pooja.
7. Nyasa. (Kala, ṭatva, bhuvana etc.)
8. Invoking Brahman or particular consciousness.
9. Transferring Brahman to yantra through writing.
10. Offerings to the seat in form of upacara.
Unless all these steps are known and
understood or unless the person is a true sadhak, then yantra will be nothing
more than a metal plate or piece of bark.
For that matter, even a painting drawn with
super consciousness or a music composed with that element will create a deep
impression on the observer or listener. It can go both ways as well, so if
energy created is negative then the listener will have bad impact, as it
happened in the case of a famous song of the 70s where the lyricist and composer
died after writing the song. Listening to that song caused a string of suicides
and song was banned.
In the case of a yantra, even when you get
a proper yantra you will not be able to hold its purity for too long. The
yantra deity requires regular worship and invocation. Impurities in the house
will close the vortex above the yantra and the deity will vanish. It is also
possible that some unwanted power will take the seat instead from the opened
vortex. So messing with such powerful stuff will cause major psychological problems
instead of help.
When you understand yantra in the light
above, you will know that the modern yantra business is nothing more than a
gimmick.
