Untimely Deaths and depth and open space in
North East direction
The open space
or Courtyard in North East is a very common practice and often the most
commonly misunderstood dictum in sthāpatya. It is believed that leaving open
space in NE will lead to prosperity. The coining of this is dependent on the
concept that NE belongs to Jupiter. At practical level and as well as Śastra
level, we have found it to be completely false. In fact the rules in
manuscripts are quite opposite to what is believed and they are true as well.
In recent
observation a lane where all the houses are built facing NE and where each
house has open space in front, we have discovered that majority of them are
suffering from untimely deaths. It is very uncommon that five amongst the
thirteen houses have seen suicides and the rest have seen deaths through heart
attacks and accidents.
See, what the
sastras say about this
Meaning: The courtyard placed in the east
is the primary one. The courtyard designed in the south-east will cause mental
pain and other ailments; designed in the south will yield victory for the king;
designed in the south-west will result in the growth and increase of enemies;
designed in the west will give prosperity for the descendants and relatives; designed in the north-west will increase
enmity; designed in the north will result in the continued increase of
treasure and designed in the north-east
is sure to inflict death.
Our Śastra are
pretty much clear about open spaces or courtyards in NE. The wrong assumptions
are devised by insufficient knowledge of the sastras. This is what happens when
assumptions become knowledge. It is high time that we check each and every
assumption before it becomes a theory circulating everywhere.
